I found it perfect that in your story, Mickey is the one to facilitate that phone call between Jack and the Doctor. The Doctor, both on purpose and accidentally, took things from both of them and as a consequence left them out of place. Mickey would understand.
And what might have been the consequences for the rest of Martha's family made sense, as did why she broke it off with Tom. Beautifully done.
