What a fabulous bit of alt!canon! Very well-researched, and very vivid in its evocation of time and place and battle -- with some delicious timey-placey riffs on Jack's personal mythology, as well. I like the choice and pacing of the scenes, and good for you for trusting the reader to draw the appropriate parallels.
