Reading, Voting, Reading, Voting, Depressing Anniversary

I voted in whoverse_las.  One of my win votes is still haunting me (in a good way).  I thought about it on my drive to work the other day, and teared up.

One of my lose votes isn't quite haunting me, but it's taken up residence in my stomach and keeps sending me twinges of nausea. 

I voted in writerinadrawer too.  Only six fics this round.  I'm so tired, but voting is so addictive!

Today was the anniversary of Hiroshima. I suck at marking anniversaries so I don't have much to say about it. A few years ago I saw a survivor speak about their experiences, and it gives me an eerie feeling to think that within my lifetime there won't be any more survivors.

It's absolutely terrifying to watch living history slowly die out. Because sure there are documents, artifacts, but it's never, ever, ever the same as sitting with a person who has witnessed history, and speaking with them, and hearing them tell a story to you, personally, individually, and asking them questions and hearing them answer, and having them smile or frown or lose their place. Recordings just can't capture that. And no matter how much you record, there's so much more. There's always, always so much more.

I still haven't voted in WIAD. Haven't decided on my vote on who to drawer, yet.

Can't wait to discuss my whoverse_las votes once we're allowed to do so! I must say, one of the ones I voted as the best gave me goosebumps each time I read it. I'm eager to find out who wrote it.
