TW Rewatch: Day One

Few second shot of an Interracial couple walking past the alleyway where Carys is. You really don't see that as much on US TV.
Poor Carys. This episode is awfully sexist while at the same time trying to comment about sexism but mostly failing.

There's a lot of watching people have sex in this episode. "He came and went". GROOAAANN
Even when Jack touches the bouncer perv on the shoulder it's still kind of hot #onlygodcanjudgeme
the first time I saw this I was thinking eww is the alien gonna make her have sex with her dad, so glad the show didn't go there
But in all, this episode is really very dark and disdainful of human life underneath its comedy
They burst through the door and save the poor delivery boy. Love Jack's white haz-mat outfit. It coordinates well with his gear.
Actress playing Carys does a great job explaining orgasmic energy with a totally straight face
I didn't see this kiss as very titillating, I was too worried about Gwen getting orgasmified or something
Ah the classic "quaint categories" line. Love how they're slowly outlining Jack's character.
The plot of this may have been ripped off from the classic 80s cult film "Liquid Sky" where aliens take over a fashion model
And made her have sex with ppl & when they had orgasms they turn into tin foil & die. But in the movie it worked for men & women.
"period military is not the dress of a straight man" Great line. Jack's sexuality outlined in a jokey way but not disrespectfully
Carys' crying is very moving. But the dialogue about it is clunky. "Show me what it means to be human in the 21st century."
Love Gwen saying "Have I got something on my face?" No, that's just Jack being smitten by you awwwww
Owen is surprisingly muscular. "Are you still feeling a bit of a cock?" LOL
Jack keeps picking up stuff to fight Carys with but he totally, totally sucks at trying to be Jackie Chan
JACK CRADLING THE SLIMY HAND AWWWWWW (sniff) (sniff)
Jack is very good at deflecting questions about his past he goes on the verbal offensive when pressed.
RAT JAM EWWW Followed by great "sex" montage, excellent use of music to get inside Carys' head.
I could see the Carys-going-after-her-ex thing playing out well in advance
love Jack's reference to his "back catalog"
The all-night fertility clinic is so over the top I remember laughing in horror when I realized the show was gonna go there
"You really wanna feel something?" Jack kissing Carys. Creepy but hot. #onlygodcanjudgeme
They tricked the gas! Dumb-ass gas.
Jack's eulogy to the sex gas GROAAAANN but nice Jack/Gwen kiss, love how he touches his lips afterwards
"Who are you, Jack?" "Go home, eat lasagna, kiss your boyfriend, be normal, for me." cheesy but the music still makes me tear up
Then Ghost Machine preview next, a much better episode and also pretty original, unlike the Liquid Sky ripoff that is Day One.
Which is an awesome movie & I highly recommend it!
Too bad TW couldn't capture more of the tragic weirdness of the original.
